Cockatiels (Nymphicus hollandicus) are a small Cockatoo from the Australian outback. They have a headcrest which reflects their emotions. They are not reccomended as pets for those with athsma due to a powdery dandriff they produce.

Cockatiels come in the wild Grey Body with orange cheek patches. The hens have a row of white, cream, or yellow dots under her wings, as do all imatures. but males never have this. They also come in White-faced, pearls, pied, pastel-faced, yellow-cheek, cinnamon, silver, lutino, albino, and a variety of double and triple mutations combining the above mutations.

Cockatiels may be shy or very loud and abnoxious, depending on their training and how well they have bonded to you. The are inquisitive and when interested the raise their crest. They are outstanding whistlers.
